WARNING: This article contains potential spoilers from Outlander season 6
Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) has been sexually assaulted in Outlander prior to her attack in season five but that doesn’t make it any less traumatic. She has also spent 20 years apart from the love of her life, Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), endure a loveless marriage to Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) and lose some of those closest to her including Murtagh Fitzgibbons (Duncan Lacroix). The next season of the Starz series will not be without its challenge as actress Caitriona teased what’s next for her character.
While speaking at PaleyFest LA, Caitriona’s co-stars spoke of their excitement of returning to set and what fans could expect from the new series.
Caitriona on the other hand simply hinted at a major change for her character, which could alter the way she is portrayed.
She told fans: “I am excited to see all my crew. I think we miss them all dearly.
“It is sad that everyone is not able to get up and go to work, and maybe I will get a haircut this season. I will let Sam do it.”
Caitriona’s hint at cutting her hair could be a hint to a major storyline in the Outlander novels by Diana Gabaldon.
For those who have read A Breath of Snow and Ashes, the sixth book which will be covered in the next season, they will know exactly what lies ahead for Claire.
Claire falls dangerously ill in the books when she has a horrific bout of dysentery and she is unable to treat herself.
As she is left in the hands of others, she wakes one morning to find her hair has been shaved off.
Also speaking at PaleyFest, he teased: “I am excited to see where Jamie goes this season, but to be honest, we now have six, almost seven, years of experience behind us.
“We have scenes, we have characters, we have things in the books we haven’t covered.
“We can call back on stuff. We have seen there are other time travellers out there.
“It feels as though the universe is opening up a bit more for us to draw upon, as well for the writers.
