NCIS LA season 12: Kessler ‘killed’ by Kensi in huge promo clue | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

CBS have recently released an intense new teaser for the next episode of NCIS: Los Angeles’ thrilling 12th season. Ahead of Sunday’s instalment, ‘Through the Looking Glass’, a split-second shot in the new footage may have exposed a pivotal moment from the climax.

Sadistic killer David Kessler (played by Frank Military) will finally return in the next episode of NCIS: Los Angeles.

The dangerous sociopath was last seen threatening Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) before his release from prison in episode five, ‘Raising the Dead’.

Fans now suspect he’ll play a crucial role in this week’s instalment, after he appeared in a sinister postcard delivered to the NCIS team’s LA Headquarters.

A synopsis for the upcoming episode reads: “When a Naval Intelligence Officer is tortured and murdered, NCIS must work with Joelle (Elizabeth Boush), who informs them that other CIA operatives are being killed in the same way.”

“Also, Kensi receives a threatening postcard from David Kessler (Frank Military), the sociopath who is obsessed with her.”

Kessler’s physical appearance has not yet been confirmed, though he’s all but guaranteed to show up after vowing to horrifically torture and kill Kensi when they last met.

However, a brief shot in the new trailer suggests the skilled agent may be able to take him out before he gets the chance.

The 20-second teaser features a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot of Kensi in camouflage and wielding a sniper rifle.

“She’s got shot, tortured, beaten, kidnapped, and paralyzed […] What else are you gonna do to her?”

A previous conversation between Kensi and Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) could also be foreshadowing that she’ll be the one to eventually take Kessler out of action.

In episode 13, she said: “[Kessler is] in my head. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t wonder if I should just drop everything and put an end to him.”

Plus, Kensi star Daniela Ruah told TV Insider: “Kensi definitely knows how dangerous he is [and] what he’s capable of, but her mentality is, ‘I’ve caught you once, I can catch you again.’”

The star’s comments seem to suggest Kessler could simply be put away again, only to emerge for another shock appearance somewhere down the line.

However, Kensi is clearly traumatised by her previous run-ins with the killer, and it’s rare that an NCIS target walks away from sniper fire unscathed.

With just two episodes left to go, the agent could be faced with an impossible choice and finally decide to end Kessler once and for all before the season wraps up.

NCIS: Los Angeles season 12 continues Sunday, May 16 on CBS.
