A retired Hong Kong police officer has been accused of sending a “threatening” email to an exiled Hong Kong activist in which he warns him about engaging in political activism Britain.

Simon Cheng, the founder and chairperson of the group Hongkongers in Britain, said in social media posting on Saturday that he received what he described as the ”threatening” email from former city police superintendent, Alan Crowther.

According to Cheng, in the email, Crowther warned him – in an apparent general reference to previous violent protests in Hong Kong – to “not again resort to violence in the UK” and asked “how long the real UK public will tolerate your [Cheng’s] use of UK government funds to spite HK.”
