Emmerdale‘s Lydia Hart (played by Karen Blick) finally mustered up the courage to undergo the Huntington’s Disease test after finding out the progressive brain disorder runs in her family. But will she receive the result sooner than expected and keep it hidden from her loved ones as they deal with yet another family crisis in the ITV soap?
Lydia was looking forward to some me-time as Sam Dingle (James Hooton) headed out to help Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) on the farm, but the peace was soon disturbed as loud-mouth Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) burst through the door.
After revealing that Sam let slip she’d taken the test, Mandy is very supportive of her cousin’s wife at this worrying time, and promises she will help keep her mind off it by giving her her undivided attention.
While Lydia looks forward to a distraction, their plans are soon interrupted as Mandy’s phone pings.
After quickly glancing over the message from Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles), it soon becomes apparent another crisis is about to hit the family.
Bernice breaks the sad news that she’s selling the salon, after having to urgently leave for Australia late last year.
With Mandy believing she was going to receive a pay rise, she’s more that shocked when she learns of Bernice’s intentions.
With her job on the line, it suddenly all becomes about Mandy and Lydia’s distraction is to help her distraught loved one figure out what she’s going to do.
In true Mandy fashion, this plot won’t be going away anytime soon and it could overshadow Lydia’s own woes about her health.
As fans welcome (or not) two newcomers to the village, they’re set to wreak havoc on their retrospective families.
First up, we have GP Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker), who’s sister will turn up out of the blue with a grudge to bear.
The doctor, who married Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) last year, made waves when she was outed as a spend-a-holic, plummeting her new family into a considerable amount of debt.
But as her sibling arrives, tensions within the family sky-rocket once again as she drops an unholy amount of dirt on her sister.
