Riverdale has returned to our screens both on The CW and Netflix for its fourth season. There is already drama brewing and mystery around the two new characters, the school’s principal Mr Honey (played by Kerr Smith) and English teacher at Stonewall Prep Mr Chipping (Sam Witwer). What’s on everyone’s minds though is whether or not Edgar Evernever (Chad Michael Murray) will appear again.
Will Chad Michael Murray return to Riverdale?
Typically cast in the role of a charming leading man, the character of Edgar was an unusual part to play for actor Chad Michael Murray.
Best known for TV series One Tree Hill and teenage rom-com A Cinderella Story, the once teenage heart-throb became Riverdale’s series three villain.
Although charming as ever, there is an ulterior motive behind his character Edgar Evernever’s actions.
Murray is the leader of The Farm, a supposed safe haven for the community that has mysteriously shown up in Riverdale to everyone’s bemusement.
When Betty’s (Lili Reinhart) sister Polly (Tiera Skovbye) needed somewhere to go with her twins, she moved in with The Farm and later did their mum Alice (Mädchen Amick).
Confused by what was going on, Betty started to investigate but only saw Edgar for the first time when he stood up and creepily clapped after the teenager and her friends performed Seventeen in the school musical Heathers.
Slowly but surely more and more people seem to be falling under his spell but why?
When the Nancy Drew wannabe starts living at The Farm to not only escape her murderous father the Black Hood (Lochlyn Munro) but to find out what’s really going on.
She discovers Edgar is using hypnosis to make his followers see their deceased loved ones.
He does this to retain his followers so he can harvest their organs and sell them on the black market.
He managed to escape Betty and the police at the end of season three, but his future on the series was still in doubt.
To fans’ delight, however, Edgar Evernever will be back in season four.
Madalaine Petsch, who plays Cheryl Blossom, confirmed the news at San Francisco Comic-Con.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she said: “There’s going to be more Chad Michael Murray. Chad Michael Murray’s coming back.”
Riverdale continues on Netflix UK every Thursday and The CW every Wednesday.
