Archie Andrews (played by KJ Apa) and the rest of the Riverdale gang will return in just under two months.
The message read: “The Riverdale s4 returns weekly from 10 October. No idea what’ll happen but I’m sure Archie will take his shirt off for no reason and fight a bear again, idk.”
It added in another tweet: “There will be new episodes every Thursday thereafter.”
Each episode will be available to watch in the UK just one day after it airs in the US.
There will be a sad absence in the programme when it returns following on from the death of Luke Perry who played Archie’s dad Fred.
Luke, who was just 52-year-old, died after suffering a stroke in March this year.
Riverdale is set to address the death of the actor by paying tribute in a special episode.
Archie actor KJ told Extra that filming the episode “was obviously really emotional” before adding that “it’s a beautiful episode”.
The star continued: “I’m super excited for people to see it and I think we did a good job in honouring Luke.”
It is not yet known how the character’s absence from the series will be explained.
Creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has revealed that the first episode of the new season will be dedicated to Luke, entitled In Memoriam.
Posting a photo of the finished script to his Instagram account he wrote: “Probably the most important episode of Riverdale we’ll do this year, if not ever.
“A tribute to our fallen friend. Thankful for this opportunity to honour Luke & Fred.”
While the core cast members will be returning to the series it will also welcome a new face.
Riverdale High is getting a new principal in the form of Mr Honey.
He will be played by Kerr Smith following the departure of Principal Weatherbee (Peter Bryant).
The official bio for the new character has hinted he is not one to be messed with.
It reads: “A bit of a hard-a*s who takes a harder line with the students this year, especially with the seniors.”
Riverdale season 4 returns to The CW on October 10 and drops the following day on Netflix.
