Life imitates art in this week’s Modern Love essay, as Nancy Meyers, a screenwriter and director known for romantic comedies about divorced women (“It’s Complicated,” “Something’s Gotta Give”), finds herself on a three-hour drive with her ex-husband of 20 years. What starts as an awkward ride quickly lands the two in familiar territory.

One of the hardest parts of a breakup can be when your partner moves on (especially if they seem to be happy). But when Lindsay Crouse’s ex became Lady Gaga’s new “mystery man,” it left her wondering: “How do you compare yourself with Lady Gaga?”

And, in this week’s Vows column, Carmelle Tsai’s prayers were answered when she was introduced to Bradley Wallace through a mutual friend. Of her many requirements, she hoped above all else to find “a man who loved Jesus with all his heart,” she said. The couple, who are both doctors, bonded over their shared spiritual beliefs and a deep desire to help others. It was “a thousand little things” that made him fall in love with Ms. Tsai, Mr. Wallace said.
