Jane McDonald stuns in unearthed snaps amid upsetting fans with shock career move | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Stunning snaps of Jane McDonald, 56, have been unearthed just after the star revealed that she will be stepping away from her shows on Channel 5. The pictures show Jane wearing a glamorous dress in a hot pink colour, studded with jewels.

The gorgeous snaps were taken in 2001, when Jane was in full swing with her club and cruise singing, the same year she released her album, Love at the Movies – following on from her debut album, Jane McDonald, in 1998.

The cruise singer had also just finished her presenting gig for talent show series, Star for a Night, which was originally commissioned as a one-off special in 1999 which featured judges Nigel Martin-Smith and Barbara Windsor.

Meanwhile, the broadcaster married Henrik Brixen, a cruise plumbing engineer, in 1998, who then became her manager.

However, this working relationship resulted in their marriage taking a rough turn as she previously revealed: “I loved him with all my heart, but felt he’d stopped looking at me as a wife. I became a product.”

After their split in 2002, Jane took a step back from her music and dived deep into TV presenting, which resulted in landing a panelist gig on Loose Women in 2004.

However, despite stepping away from music originally, the star has now decided to get back into her singing and touring career.

She upset some fans when she announced her decision on her website in a statement that read: “By now you will have seen the news about me stepping away from my shows on Channel 5.”

Jane reflected on her four “incredible” years with Channel 5, and said she travelled on “38 cruises and over 100 flights.”

The TV star will be leaving behind her hit shows, Cruising with Jane McDonald, Holidaying with Jane McDonald, and Jane McDonald and Friends.

“It’s been a total joy to work with everyone and thank you very much to everyone who has watched and supported the shows. I have had a blast!”, the singer concluded.

After the statement was released and the star announced her news on Twitter, fans were shocked and upset, and wrote to the presenter to share their thoughts.

One fan said: “Worst news of 2020”, while another reacted similarly to her decision to step away, and wrote: “Gutted”.

Another added in response to the singer’s statement: “What! This is a shocker, but they do say leave when the show is on a high. It’s been 4 years of pure joy watching Cruising With Jane, and Jane and Friends. Good luck on future projects”.

Some fans of Jane said she is “irreplaceable” after she won a Bafta for Cruising with Jane McDonald in 2018 and called her a “professional cruiser”.

Many are hoping that she will make a return to Loose Women.

One said: “MAYBE YOU WILL RETURN TO LOOSE WOMAN THAT WOULD BE GOOD NEWS JANE XXX”.

Following on from her public announcement, the presenter released details about her upcoming tour, Jane McDonald Let The Light In – a “phenomenal” show with her live band featuring a new line-up of songs.
