Harry Redknapp, 72, had to be rushed to hospital earlier this month after bizarrely getting a piece of TV kit lodged in his ear. The I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! winner revealed the earpiece got “jammed” after several attempts from people to pull the equipment out. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Harry said: “I was at BT Sports and the earpiece they put in your ear – so you can hear what the producers are saying – got stuck. “And as they were pulling it out the plastic bit got pushed further into my ear. In the end it got jammed so I had to go to the hospital.”
The football legend has said he is now feeling “good” following the incident.
It comes after he appeared as a guest on BT Sport’s coverage of the weekend Premier League action.
Meanwhile, the former West Ham United player has revealed whether his grandchildren will follow in his family’s footsteps into the Premier League.
“It’s difficult really. They’re all keen. It’s tough. You’ve got to be good to make it at a good level. They all enjoy it. I go and watch them play but I never put any pressure on them,” he explained.
The TV personality revealed he was never a “pushy parent” and could never be considered a pushy grandfather either.
He continued: “I don’t drive them [my grandkids] mad. I stand out the way. I never shout or scream. I just watch [them play football].
“I go home, but occasionally I might give them a bit of advice.
“But I don’t drive them crazy giving them too much advice or shouting and screaming, that’s for sure. I’m not a pushy granddad and I wasn’t a pushy dad either. Not at all. Never ever.”
Away from the pitch, the former Tottenham Hotspur manager is a family man and regularly spends time with his wife Sandra, two sons Jamie Redknapp, 45, and Mark Redknapp, 49, and his five grandchildren.
Jamie married popstar Louise Redknapp in 1998, who was a member of girl group Eternal.
They have two sons together called Charley, 15, and Beau, 10, but divorced in December 2017 after 19 years of marriage.
Harry’s eldest son Mark, who has opted to stay out of the limelight, has two children.
The King of the Jungle also revealed his wife Sandra is now more “famous” than him.
He gushed: “She’s laidback. I’ve made her more bleeding famous than me. She’s been the quietest person in the world for the past 50 odd years.
“But she’s been in the back, and since [I’m A Celeb] when we go out, more people seem to know her more than me.”
