Max Branning (Jake Wood) is desperately trying to get his granddaughter back after Rainie (Tanya Franks) took off with her.
It unfolded Bobby (Clay Milner Russell) overheard his dad and grandmother discussing the situation as Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) suggested they go to the police to report Rainie and Abi missing.
Ian (Adam Woodyatt) wasn’t sold on the idea as he feared they’d then lose the tot to social services but Kathy told him it would put them in good stead to take on Abi for themselves.
Bobby didn’t keep the information to himself as he set about telling Max what he had heard.
As viewers will remember, Max went to prison for the murder of Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater) before Bobby was revealed as the true culprit and now it looks like Bobby is trying to make it up to him.
“You can’t trust her, her and my dad they’re planning to go to the police about Abi. It’s not right you losing more family,” the teen said.
“Nah, they wouldn’t do that,” Max replied as Bobby insisted: “I heard them, nan reckons that the social will give them custody. They’re stitching you up, Max.”
Battling with the news and the situation he’s in, Max once again turned to booze and ended up being thrown out of the Prince Albert by Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White).
On his way out he saw Kathy and he implied that he knew she had ulterior motives as he said: “You’d love it Kathy, if I lost everything, if I lost Abi. There you go, I’m making it easy for you.”
“Me and Ian are on your side, why can’t you see that?” Kathy asked.
But Max menaced: “Don’t lie to me, because you’re a liar! If I see Rainie back on that Square I’m going to kill her.”
Elsewhere, with Rainie low on funds and still on the run, she and Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) resorted to an extremely risky plan in order to get some quick cash.
Viewers saw Rainie posing as a sex worker in tonight’s episode where she would get money from potential clients but before anything could happen, Stuart would come along and scare them off.
They managed to trick a few punters using the technique but it wasn’t long before things went wrong.
While Rainie was with one man, Stuart became distracted by an old woman who needed help and so was delayed in rushing in to frighten the client off.
Rainie was clearly beginning to panic and shouted for help before the man turned nasty and became violent toward her.
Stuart appeared before things went any further and the man left but Rainie had already sustained some horrible injuries.
Later on in the episode, Stuart was waiting for Kathy outside the backdoor and surprised her.
“I’m sorry Kathy, I didn’t know where else to go,” he declared as Kathy turned to see baby Abi in her pram.
“She needs someone who can take better care of her than I can,” Stuart admitted.
However, Rainie was also crouched beside her trying to keep a low profile with a bruised and battered face.
“You’ll help her, won’t you?” Stuart asked before the credits rolled.
While Bobby wasn’t there, it looks like he could find out soon enough as he’s living at the Beale house and it would be unlike Kathy to turn Rainie away.
As he’s keen to make up for what happened to Max, will he tell him Rainie is there?
If he does, it could lead to serious problems for Rainie as Max has already threatened to kill her if he sees her again. Can Bobby keep quiet?
EastEnders continues Monday at 8pm on BBC One.
